Welcome to the Webmasters Resources Page run by me, Lisa. I'm a self-taught webmaster (I think webmistress sounds so middle-aged!), building and operating various niche sites since early 2002. Although I gratefully snapped up all the help and advice that's freely available on the web, when the chips were down, I learned most things by trial and error. Along the way I made plenty of mistakes and I only achieved my first sign-ups after six months of hard grind – if you'll pardon the pun! :)
We've all heard how much more money could be made in the 'good old days', and how it's getting more and more difficult to get sign-ups. I think this is partly because surfers are wising up to the various 'tricks of the trade' and partly because of the contempt many webmasters show them. I hate consoles and pop-ups when I'm surfing, and it would be hypocritical of me to over-use them on my websites. There's nothing more likely to put off potential customers than a wave of unwanted windows. I try to only use sponsors who limit their use. Experienced webmasters will be LOL now as consoles are usually deemed the number one tool in the webmaster's armoury, but I believe that if we're going to survive and make money in the future, we adult webmasters are going to have to have more consideration for our surfers.
This is my attempt to offer resourses and ideas I found useful to new (and to more experienced) webmasters. This page is STRICTLY NO BULLSHIT and no one is mentioned just because they offer a good pay-out.
